Iqbal Sikander replaces Qadir in committee

Iqbal Sikander, member of the 1992 World Cup winning squad, was named to replace spin wizard Abdul Qadir in the three-man bowling committee to review the action of paceman Shoaib Akhtar.

The post had become vacant after Qadir fell out with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and refused to work on honorary basis.

Iqbal will be the only member in the committee who has not played Test cricket. Ijaz Fakih and Mohsin Kamal have represented Pakistan at the highest level.

Meanwhile, the PCB has filed a civil case for recovery of fines against three former Pakistan players, including Salim Malik and Ataur-Rehman who has been banned for life.

The first hearing of the case will take place in the court of Khalid Mahmood Ranjah, civil judge, Lahore, on April 18.

Malik was fined Rs one million, Ata was fined Rs 100,000 and Akram Raza penalized Rs 300,000 by Justice Malik Mohammad Qayyum who investigated the charges of corruption in Pakistan cricket.

The PCB has already recovered a total fine of Rs 900,000 from Wasim Akram, Mushtaq Ahmad, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Saeed Anwar and Waqar Younis.
