Goa faced Karnataka in the last South Zone Ranji Trophy match at the
Dr Rajendra Prasad Stadium, Margao. Goa winning the toss, opted to bat
first. At the close of play, Goa were 261 for six from 92 overs.
Goa ran in to trouble early in their innings losing two quick wickets
for 16 runs. Seamers Mansoor Ali Khan and Dodda Ganesh picking up a
wicket each. Opener Vivek K (46) and Tanveer Jabbar (116) gave Goa a
face saving 101 run stand for the third wicket. Jabbar's 214 ball
innings had 18 boundaries and one six. Former Indian batsman Praveen
Amre (33) gave Jabbar valuable support to notch 90 runs for the fourth
wicket before Jabbar edged one from Santosh V to Vijay Bharadwaj.
Karnataka claimed the second new ball after 82 overs. Dodda Ganesh
trapped Amre in front of the wicket with the very first delivery.
Dinesh Rao soon followed edging one from Mansoor, well taken by
Bharadwaj in the slips. Ronit Rane (11) and Ananth Bhagwat (18) played
out the remaining overs and returned unbeaten.
