The newest formula of cricket in the international scene, will now be played in Sri Lanka providing the local cricket followers an opportunity of seeing this most exiting form of cricket being played by local cricketers. This inaugural cricket extravaganza will be worked out at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium on the 2nd and 3rd of September 2004. The "Janashakthi Twenty 20 Championship" will be sponsored by Janashakthi Insurance who were also the title sponsors of the recently concluded South Africa Tour of Sri Lanka.

The matches would be televised live by Taj TV/Ten Sports and would feature popular TV commentators -. Tony Greg, Robin Jackman, Dean Jones. Mike Hensmen etc., These matches would be telecast live on Ten Sports Channel in India, Europe and the Middle East etc., The live Sri Lankan telecast would be handled by Rupavahini while ball by ball radio commentaries would be broadcast by the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation.

With free entrance to the public the Janashakthi Twenty 20 Championship which would have the premier local cricket clubs in action, would prove to be the best sports action on offer for the local sports fans. This cricket carnival will also offer free air tickets to Singapore from George Steuart, weekend packages from Hotel Taj Samudra & Light House Hotel Galle, Gifts from Nishan Cycle Base, amongst and many other surprises and special offers given by Coca-Cola, Keells, Lion Beer etc., The event will also have live bands featuring some of the popular vocalists.

3rd September - Semis/Finals

11.00 a.m. - 1st Semi - 1 Vs 4
2.30 p.m. - 2nd Semi - 2 Vs. 3
7.00 p.m. - Final- (Under Lights)
