In the third round of the Cheltenham and Gloucester Trophy, there were big wins for Worcestershire, Warwickshire and Essex, while Gloucestershire, Middlesex and Lancashire were made to work harder for their victories. Andy Bichel took 4 for 17 as Worcestershire skittled Somerset for 95 as they romped home by eight wickets, Mark Wagh and Nick Knight put on an unbroken hundred stand as Kent went down by nine wickets, and Will Jefferson and Andy Flower put on 248 as Notts were thrashed by 184 runs at Trent Bridge. Elsewhere, Craig Spearman helped Gloucestershire to a low-scoring win against Hampshire, Jamie Dalrymple and Ed Joyce secured victory for Middlesex against Glamorgan at Lord's, and 62 from Mark Chilton helped set Lancashire up for a 12-run win at Hove.
