Kent CCC launches 'Kent Cricket 2000'

Kent County Cricket Club will launch "Kent Cricket 2000" tomorrow (19 January) with a lunch at the Great Danes Hotel, Hollingbourne. Guest speakers include comedian Eddie Large and ex-England Rugby Union International Martin Bayfield. Nearly 300 guests are expected at the lunch, which is the first of a series of fundraising events being held throughout the year in aid of Kent Youth Cricket.

The money raised through "Kent Cricket 2000" will not only underpin existing programmes for youth cricket within the county but will also enable the Club to create a framework of new initiatives within which young cricketers can flourish.

Commenting on the Appeal, Peter Edgley, Vice Chairman of the Appeal Committee, said:

"Kent Cricket 2000 is an opportunity for everyone interested in cricket in Kent to contribute to the future well being of youth cricket in the county. We have a marvellous tradition of producing great players from within the county and we must ensure, through the constant development of talented youngsters, that we continue that tradition. If the Appeal's target is achieved, more young people in Kent will have the opportunity to play cricket and will be given the support and encouragement which they need in order to achieve their true potential. Exceptional talent will be nurtured and enhanced facilities will provide a state-of-the-art coaching capability. Kent Cricket 2000 will lay the foundations for our cricketing future."
