Last chance saloon for England

For the first time in the one-day series, England are actually decent value to win one of the matches. Unfortunately, bet365's justification for making England 5/6 (1.83) is simple - at 2-0 down with three to play, England are in last-chance saloon

For the first time in the one-day series, England are actually decent value to win one of the matches. Unfortunately, bet365's justification for making England 5/6 (1.83) is simple - at 2-0 down with three to play, England are in last-chance saloon.
Outplayed in both the first two matches, England, who are 9/2 (5.50) to win the series, have a mountain to climb but they could start by winning Saturday's third match at Chester-le-Street.
Sri Lanka will be confident of victory after the way they took the game to England in both the first two matches, with Sanath Jayasuriya's return to form a bonus for the tourists.
Indeed, they are still working off the momentum of their win in the final Test and England have to get in amongst them to at least show them they cannot take the series win for granted.
Since Chester-le-Street joined the circuit of international grounds, England have not exactly given their fans in the North East much to shout about, winning just one and losing two of the four games to be held there.
Marcus Trescothick and Kevin Pietersen, the latter who will play through the pain of injury, are 11/4 (3.75) joint favourites to be top runscorer, and at least they will not have to deal with Muttiah Muralitaharan any more after the spinner flew home for family reasons.
He will figure his work is done but some of the England batsmen will be breathing easier, notably Andrew Strauss, who has struggled against spin. Strauss is 9/2 (5.50) to top-score while Alastair Cook is 11/2 (6,50) and Ian Bell and Paul Collingwood are both 6/1 (7.00).
For Sri Lanka, Jayasuriya's return to form has seen him put alongside Mahela Jayawardene as 100/30 (4.33) favourite to top-score for his side.
Kumar Sangakkara is 4/1 (5.00), Upul Tharanga 9/2 (5.50) and Tillekeratne Dilshan is 11/2 (6.50) to come out on top.
