Cricket fans now have until tomorrow to get tickets for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2007. Penny Commissiong-Chow, marketing/communications manager of the Trinidad and Tobago Local Organising Committee (LOC), said after tomorrow, anyone seeking tickets would have to go through a lottery process, and from September 1, the tickets would be open to the international market.
Commissiong-Chow said 17,000 tickets went on sale in Trinidad and Tobago (T&T) in May. She said 3,000 would be allotted to VIPs, while 7,000 would be sold to T&T fans and 7,000 to international cricket fans, who would be travelling to Trinidad for the matches. The maximum number of single tickets that could be ordered was four for each match.
Applications can be submitted online or at official ticket centres at Jean Pierre Complex, Port of Spain; Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva; and TSTT Tobago, Caroline Building, Scarborough, Tobago.
Commissiong-Chow said the tickets would go on sale in two phases, but if all tickets were sold out during phase one, there would be no additional tickets on sale. Application forms are available at ticket centres and the cost of tickets would vary with matches.
In Trinidad, warm-up matches would range from US$10 to US$40, while the Group stage matches would be sold at US$15 to US$90. Tickets for the final, which takes place in Barbados, would range from US$100 to US$300.
Commissiong-Chow said tickets would arrive in Trinidad in January. "This is to ensure that patrons do not lose their tickets, since they would be very difficult to replace," she said. Trinidad will host Group B matches, involving Sri Lanka, India, Bangladesh and Bermuda. The first World Cup game here is set for March 15.
