Little Sai Wan Cricket Club announce merger with St George's Cricket Club

The Little Sai Wan Cricket Club and the St George's Cricket Club have merged. The St George's name, which first appeared on Hong Kong cricket scene in 1962 when the club was founded, will continue as a team under the LSW banner.

Details of the merger are explained in the following media release issued today.

Little Sai Wan Cricket Club and St George's Cricket Club have formally merged with mutual consent. The Saturday League team playing as 'St George's Cricket Club' will now be known as 'LSW St George's'. This will now make two LSWCC teams in the Saturday League, with LSW Warriors being the other.

The St George's Cricket Club's Challenge League team has also been renamed LSW Gladiators.

Officials of the St George's Cricket Club will become officials of LSWCC.

This brings Little Sai Wan Cricket Club's total number of adult teams to 7 including LSW JKN (Sunday League), LSW Warriors (Saturday League), LSW St George's (Saturday League), LSW X-Cricketers (Challenge League), LSW Sarjan (Challenge League), LSW Gladiators (Challenge League) and LSW Wasps (Women's League).

"This merger gives opportunity for more of our members to play cricket for the club," says Mrs. Nizami, Vice-Chairman of LSWCC. "Our junior development program produces a lot of young cricketers and they want to play for the club but did not get opportunities to do so in the past," she added.

"Both St George's and Little Sai Wan want to create an environment where we can provide quality cricket for our members of all ages; boys and girls," added Mr. Sohail Murshed, Chairman of St George's Cricket Club. "We are now part of the LSW family and it keeps getting bigger."

LSWCC also has junior teams in U19, U17, U15, U13, U11 boys and U19 girls age group competitions.

LSWCC also announces sponsorship agreements with JKN, who continue to sponsor the Sunday League team (renamed LSW JKN) as well as the junior teams.

The Sarjan Group have also agreed to sponsor LSW Warriors.
