Premiership Preview
Charlton v Everton (Saturday: 12.45 PremPlus)
Charlton have only two wins all season, both at home and worryingly for Everton both against teams from the North West. 'Dreadful' describes their standard of football at the moment, as last week's 2-0 defeat to Reading showed.
The Addicks' midfield doesn't have the creativity; with Reid and Rommedahl ineffective at the best of times. Scoring goals is their problem, having failed to hit the back of the net in three of their last five games. There also seems to be confusion in the final third, as Hasselbaink, and the two Bents have failed to click in whatever combination they've tried.
However, they face an Everton side on an erratic run themselves, with only two goals scored in four games. Prior to their fortuitous win over Bolton, they could only boast of one win from eight matches. With Cahill injured, Moyes will wonder where the goals will come from.
Johnson has six Premiership goals to his name, but hasn't scored since September, McFadden is suspended and Beattie hasn't scored in a month! With a lack of goalscoring instinct on show from both teams, it's unsurprising that Sporting Index reckon there'll only be two total goals at the Valley.
Bolton v Arsenal (Saturday: 17.15 PremPlus)
The Reebok is not a happy hunting ground for Arsenal, with Bolton winning three of their last four meetings in all competitions. This promises to be a right scrap, with Bolton's physical game usually upsetting the Gunners' attacking and free flowing rhythm.
Last season's two games saw 10 yellow cards and Sporting Index predict another intense affair with four cautions. The Trotters like to set out their stall early and frustrate teams with five in midfield. Arsenal's two goals against them in five games shows they're a difficult unit to break down. The team from Highbury will need to be wary of old boy Anelka, still searching for his first Premiership goal and Stelios, who has scored against them in three out of the last four games played at the Reebok.
However, Bolton have no wins in four games of which three have ended with defeat. Therefore Sporting Index give Wenger's men the advantage and predict they'll win this by 0.4 to 0.6 goals - although their last away trip (to a West Ham team also on a bad run), did see them leave empty handed.
Man Utd v Chelsea (Sunday: 16.00 Sky Sports 1)
United go in search of their eighth consecutive Premiership victory against a team that have got the better of them in recent meetings. Mourinho clearly has Fergie's number, having suffered only one defeat in six against his managerial foe since joining Chelsea.
That 1-0 loss came in the corresponding fixture last season which was an evenly fought contest. The Red Devils have improved tremendously since then with the addition of Carrick, the return of a fit again Scholes and Ronaldo and Giggs creating endless chances up front.
With such a great array of attacking talent on display, there could be goals. Indeed 11 goals have been rattled in between these two in their last four games. However, Sporting predict there'll just be the two total goals at Old Trafford, which should stir up some interest amongst the punters.
With so much at stake, it's difficult to separate the two and Sporting Index reckon both will share the spoils. That doesn't mean either side will be shying away from any tough tackles. Old Trafford witnessed seven yellow cards followed with six at the Bridge last season. It could be just as fiery with Sporting estimating Harold Webb will book six players.
