Coach Malcolm Marshall was "talkative and chirpy" when members
of the West Indies team visited him in hospital in Birmingham
yesterday, manager Clive Lloyd said.
"The hospital would allow only eight of us in, but we found him
sitting up in bed and talkative and chirpy," Lloyd said.
"He was really happy with our two wins over Bangladesh and New
Zealand and said he was hoping to join us by the time we get
into the semis."
Marshall, 41, underwent major abdominal surgery last Saturday
and is expected to remain in hospital for at least 10 days,
providing his recovery is uncomplicated.
Team doctor and performance consultant Dr. Rudi Webster and
Marshall's finance, Connie Earle, have been with him in
Birmingham.
