The fight back begins - but marginally. Sixty points from Dimitri Mascarenhas helped Sambit Bal move within 544 points of Ian Chappell, who is still sitting pretty at the top of the Star Wars points table, having broken the 3000-mark with 3369 points.
Players like Virender Sehwag, and Gautam Gambhir who were common picks didn't score many points. The ones who did were - Yusuf Pathan (174) AB de Villiers (72) and Mascarenhas (60). Unfortunately none of our celebrities - with the exception of David Lloyd - had gone with either of those players as their trump pick.
David had Mascarenhas as trump and is third on the points table with 2621 points. But with nearly four weeks of the tournament still left, David has exhausted all his changes, and he is aware this will come back to haunt him. "Confused of UK here, I have no transfers left. Bangalore are bottom at this stage and I fear that is where I am heading," he confesses. "All my eggs are in a very leaky basket and I need some heroics from my gun players. The Chargers are blazing a trail but the Daredevils are staying with them. If you thought the first stage was thrilling, just watch the scramble for places as the tournament steps up a gear."
There could be a lot of scrambling for places in the Star Wars points table as well with a double-header later today.
