The VCA-UNELCO Under-15 Grand Final will be played at Independence Park on Saturday. The match will be between Malapoa College and Central Secondary School. The game commences at 9am. The General Manager of Unelco, M. Yvonnick Raffin, will be on hand to present the UNELCO SHIELD to the winners.
Last Saturday's semis were great games Mele Weaners batted first against Central Seconday School and made 97 runs from 14.2 overs. Sike started in a flurry with 24 runs from 5 scoring shots. The rest of the boys all made small contributions Kensley (3 for 37) and Lazaro (2 for 29) were the best of the CSS bowlers. Things were looking grim for CSS when they were 4 for 22 after 9 overs. Then Kensley and Lazaro got together and put on an undefeated partnership of 76 in only 7 overs. Kensley was the hero with 44 not out while Lazaro supported well with his 19.
PVIS batted first against Malapoa College and were bowled our for 59 in 18 overs. Not one of the PVIS batters were able to reach double figures. The MC destroyers were Gabriel (3 for 9) and Selwyn (2 for 11). The ask was not enough to trouble the MC batters as they breezed their way to the required total in only 7 overs. MC Skipper, Peter Dini scored 25 not out whilst Gabriel got out in sight of the finish for 17 runs.
Well done to all junior cricketers you have all contributed greatly to a very successful season as far. Everyone is invited to come and support the two teams in the UNELCO final on Saturday.
