Premiership Preview
West Ham v Liverpool (Tuesday: 19.45 Sky Sports 1) Another London team lines up against Liverpool which could mean another three points for the Reds judging from their recent encounters in the Premiership. They've beaten Fulham, Charlton (twice), Watford (twice), Spurs and Chelsea recently. Given that 15 goals have been scored without reply, it's hardly a shock to see Sporting Index predicting the Reds to win this by a 0.8-1.0 goal margin.
With a hungry looking attack, Liverpool are expected to score 1.6-1.8 goals against the East London underachievers. Scoring goals have been West Ham's problem and it showed against lowly Watford. Dutchman Dirk Kuyt has scored eight Premiership goals this season (as many as Harewood and Zamora combined). His goal minutes price will be one of the more popular spreads on offer by Sporting Index and they're quoting a spread of 19-22 minutes. He'll fancy his chances against an out of sorts defence shipping 11 goals in their last three Premiership games.
When you've scored four at Wigan, three at Watford and three at Charlton as Liverpool have, punters unsurprisingly take a direct interest in the total goals market. Sporting Index reckon there'll be 2.3-2.5 goals at Upton Park. With the Reds hot up front and with no goalless game between these two in 10 years, expect punters to buy on that spread.
Memories of last year's epic FA Cup final will come flooding back and provide the Hammers with some hope that they can take something from this game. Gerrard was the party pooper that day and his driving runs from midfield could produce yet more misery for the claret and blue fans tonight. His goal minutes spread is priced at 14-17 minutes.
There's not much for West Ham to shout about when you consider they haven't won in six Premiership games and Rafa's men are looking for their fifth consecutive league win. However you'd be a fool to go by the form guide - they've beaten both Man United and Arsenal in the Premiership at home this season.
Arsenal v Tottenham (Wednesday: 19.45 Sky Sports 1)
Spurs fans rarely get the chance to claim bragging rights over rivals Arsenal. So after going 2-0 up after 20 minutes, Sporting Index saw few sellers with them as favourites on the goal supremacy quote of 1.9-2.1. The office taunts were surely being scripted by the white half of North London, however they forgot that the Carling Cup script is being written by Baptista this season. Sporting Index predict the Gunners to win the second leg by 0.6-0.8 goals.
Despite this, Martin Jol's men looked sharp with Lennon buzzing over the weekend and they did grab a draw away to their foes last season. Defoe's importance is magnified with first leg scorer Berbatov injured. With four goals already in the competition, buyers will no doubt take interest in his goal minutes spread which is priced at 13-16 minutes.
Given that Van Persie, Ljungberg and Hleb are in the treatment room, will those injuries place too much pressure on Arsene Wenger's youngsters? He'll look to the fact it's been 17 games since Tottenham last beat Arsenal and that they're unbeaten at the Emirates this season. Twenty goals in their last seven matches in all competitions will surely provoke interest in the Gunners' total goals spread. They're predicted to score 1.6-1.8 goals by Sporting Index in tomorrow's match.
Four against Cardiff and three on the weekend against Southend shows Spurs aren't exactly struggling in the goal scoring stakes, so goals could be in the offing. Sporting Index predict there to be 2.6-2.8 total goals in the match. Spurs will have to show passion and dig deep, but will they keep their cool in the process? There were four bookings in the first leg and Sporting Index reckon there'll be five (10 points per yellow card) and quote a spread of 48-52 points in the bookings market.
