The final of the inaugural Milo Trophy was taken out in emphatic style by Springston School. Playing against Windsor School in the final, at Springston School, the home team won the toss and elected to field.
They had Windsor in early trouble, before Sam Hopping and Corey Newman led a recovery in the middle stages for Windsor. Things were looking promising for Windsor, until Ellesmere rep opening bowler Joe Wilkinson took an amazing hat trick in the last over, reducing the Windsor total to 5 off their 10 overs (3 runs lost per wicket).
This total was never going to be enough against the strong Springston batting line up. Josh Smail and Shaun Powell got the team off to a good start, and this was followed up by a good scores from Tom Hills, who made an impressive 18, Jock Mugford who made 6 and Oliver Whelan who also made 6. The best of the Windsor bowlers was Kieran Farr, who picked up 2 wickets, narrowly missing at hat trick.
In the end Springston made a score of 35 and became the first team to lift the Milo Challenge Trophy. Speaking on behalf of the team, Dave Tilson (Coach) said
`We are proud to win this trophy for the school. The team has worked very hard at training and this has showed in the efforts. All team members have made important contributions, including the two females, Alice McKellar and Mikela Jowett. We are already looking forward to defending the trophy next year.'
