A day featuring no fewer than 11 lbw decisions saw Cambridgeshire gain the
upper hand over Northumberland at Wisbech. Bowlers dominated throughout, with
Cambridgeshire struggling past the 50-over watershed on 95 for six. Chris
Jones (29) and Ben Potter (38 not out) lifted them to 160 for seven declared
off 67 overs, and it was then Northumberland's turn to find runs hard to come
by. They scored at less than two an over in closing the opening day on 113
for nine off 65 overs - seven of their nine dismissals down to lbw awards.
