Sri Lanka team stay in Adelaide

Sri Lanka team which beat the west Indies by four wickets to
start their World Series Cup campaign in style,will remain in
Adelaide till Monday before moving on to Sydney. Arjuna Ranatunga and his men will witness Sunday`s second match between the
West Indies and Australia at the Adelaide Oval before travelling to Sydney on Monday (18) to prepare for their next
three-nation tournament match against Australia to be played on
Thursday.
Veal`s Park in 60-run win

A fine spell of 5 for 18 by Mohammed Niyas enabled Veal`s Park
Sports Club to beat Old Uvites Sports Club by 60 runs in their
Division III Badulla District league cricket encounter played on
Sunday at the Badulla Cricket grounds.
Batting first Veal`s Park SC were 182 for 9 in 42 overs. Kelum
Punchihewa captured 6 wickets for 32 runs and Old Uvites were
bundled out for 122 in 30.3 overs by M. Niyas. T. Hettiarachchie
top scored with 29 runs for Uvites.

their Coca-Cola division one segment `B` cricket tournament match
at the Welegedera Stadium.
Galle CC made 244 and 69 for 2 wickets, while Kurunegala Youth
Cricket Club made 116.

CCC on top
CCC have already obtained first innings points from Singha SC in
a tall scoring game in the Coca-Cola Division I cricket tournament for the Saravanamuttu Trophy at Maitland Crescent yesterday.
Singha made 266 on Friday and CCC in turn were 318 for 7 at
stumps yesterday.
The highlights yesterday were the three half centuries made by
CCC`s Chaminda Handunettige (54 with seven boundaries), Ashley de
Silva (52 with six fours) and Asanga Seneviratne (73 with 11
fours and a six in 124 minutes), who continues his good form with
the bat.
Handunettige and De Silva put on 110 runs for the first wicket,
while Varuna Waragoda (48) and Seneviratne made 120 runs for the
fourth wicket.

total 213 in reply to Panadura SC 316 in their Segment `A` match
in the Coca-Cola Sara Trophy division one played at Panadura
Esplanade yesterday.

Consistent batting by Kandy Cricket Club`s middle order batsmen
helped them to total 333 and gain first innings points over
Negombo Cricket Club in their Coca-Cola Cricket Tournament Division I Segment `B` match played at the Asgiriya Stadium yesterday.
The match will be continued today at 9.45 a.m.
Krishan Gunawardena 57 with 4 fours and skipper Upali Kodituwakku
68 with 9 fours batted well for the Kandy team who look set for
their fourth outright win.

Thurstan were 96 for 4 in reply to Royal`s first innings total of
230 for 6 declared on the first day of their inter-school cricket
encounter at Reid Avenue yesterday.
Janaka Gajanayake (52) with 5 fours and Kavinda Nanayakkara (57)
with 5 boundaries were the chief run getters for Royal.
Hemantha Boteju who had a successful division one season for
Bloomfield top scored for Thurstan with 50 with 6 fours and a
six.
