Moadon Lod visit Eilat for memorial match

Lod Cricket Club became the second team to visit Eilat to play cricket on the new field in the resort town on the shores of the Red Sea. The game was played on January 26, India's Republic Day, with trophies for best performances awarded in memory of Daniel Shalom Borgarker, father of Samson and Shamir who play for Eilat and Lod respectively, and Joseph (Jojo) Rajnur, former captain of the Eilat team, who sadly passed away on January 9.

Once again the Eilat municipality lended their support to the occassion, with the Manager of Sports, Mr. Yaakov Malka, delivering the welcome address and, and after a minutes silence, he hit the first ball.

Lod batted first, and their 197 in the 35-over game proved too much for the hosts. Kakundar Singh of Eilat received the Best Batsman trophy for his score of 48, and Yossi Satamkar took the bowling award for the excellent figures of four for 16 in seven overs.

Once again Sitar Eilat provided excellent hospitality to their hosts, with the game played in excellent spirit, highlighted by Isaac Samson of the Eilat team, "Moadon Lod won the game but the day was won by Eilat, because the satisfaction of the visiting team is our victory!".
