NZ Team No Issue For Wilson
DUNEDIN -- Otago cricketer Jeff Wilson is not even thinking about
the prospects of an international recall.
He prefers to concentrate on Otago and let the rest take its
course.
The New Zealand selectors confirmed their interest in the allrounder on Tuesday after his feats against Canterbury at Oamaru.
However, Wilson refused to add to the speculations. "I`m not even
going to go near that issue," he said. "It`s not something I`m
prepared to consider, even if I had the time.
"Sure, I took some wickets and had a crash-bang 69 in Oamaru, but
one swallow doesn`t make a summer.
"I`m busy enough concentrating on Otago, and doing my job at
Shell level. There`s enough on my plate right now without worrying about my New Zealand prospects."
Former England bowler Paul Jarvis is poised to play his first
game for Wellington in the Shell Cup against Otago at the Basin
Reserve tomorrow.
Onslow chairman Martin Pike said the club was happy to release
Jarvis, who plays for Sussex, from coaching duties to enable him
to play tomorrow and against Northern Districts on Sunday.
