Graeme Hick's contribution to Worcestershire over the course of his 25-year county career is to be recognised when the club's new £2 million pavilion at New Road is named in his honour.
Hick, 42, announced he would be retiring from county cricket at the end of the 2008 season, after amassing 41,112 first-class runs at 52.23, including 106 centuries for Worcestershire alone.
The members' pavilion has been in existence since 1899, but has been in need of renovation work on several occasions in recent years, not least as a result of the extensive flooding that has forced Worcestershire to abandon New Road for the remainder of the season.
A new two-floor complex is to be situated on the current site, above the level of the floodwaters, with the original building being relocated to the site of the existing ladies' pavilion. It will incorporate new dressing rooms, a cricket office, the umpires' room, the players' dining room and a new physio-rehab facility.
Another Worcestershire great, Tom Graveney (who, like Hick, scored more than 100 first-class hundreds), will have the members' lounge in the new pavilion named after him.
