Sri Lanka fast bowler Pulasthi Gunaratne has broken a bone in his right index finger and will miss Friday's World Cup Group B clash against Bangladesh.
The injury will also rule him out of the Sri Lanka's next two matches against Canada and Kenya.
Gunaratne, however, will be retained in the squad as the management believe he will have sufficient time to recover for crucial games against West Indies and South Africa.
Manager Ajit Jayasekera said that Gunaratne suffered the break while fielding in the opening match against New Zealand at Bloemfontein on Monday.
The 28-year-old right-arm fast bowler took two wickets in the New Zealand helping his team achieve an early breakthrough which eventually led to their 47-run victory.
Gunaratne is likely to be replaced by either Prabath Nissanka or Buddhika Fernando for the Bangladesh game.
