India and England may have been frustrated by the draw in the first Test in Nagpur, but that was just perfect for many punters, who laid into the draw with bet365 and were richly rewarded.

India began the match as favourites but England's superb effort forced the draw and left bet365 counting their losses.

"We always tend to lay the draw in Test cricket, but we took a hammering in this one, especially in-running," said bet365 spokesman Steve Freeth.

"We fancied our chances after the first day, but we laid a couple of decent four figure bets on a stalemate at the end of play at 5/1 and rumours of a freak weather front encouraged the punters to carry on backing the draw.

"We thought we were in with a squeak when (Virender) Sehwag went without scoring early on the final day, but (Rahul) Dravid came in to steady the ship and our fate was sealed."
