Karachi, Sept 14: Former Test spinner Iqbal Qasim was appointed
as an interim chairman of Karachi selectors by the Sindh High
Court, says a Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) ad hoc committee press
release.
The press statement said Justice Rashid Rizvi nominated Iqbal
Qasim in place of Hanif Mohammad who has left for Toronto.
The next date of hearing was fixed for Sept 24 but Justice Rizvi
ordered that the teams will play in the National One-day
Championship under Karachi City Cricket Association (KCCA)
banner.
Iqbal Qasim soon after his appointment, announced the schedule
for trials for the selection of two Karachi teams in the ongoing
National One-day Championship.
The programme is:
Sept 16: Trials for Zone 1 and 2 (9:00am to 1pm), Zone 6 and 7
(1pm to 4 pm) and Zone 5 (4pm to 6:30pm)
Sept 17: Trials for Zone 3 and 4 (9am to 1pm)
The players who are registered with the approved clubs and have
represented their clubs during the last two years have been
declared as eligible for trials, the statement added.
Jalaluddin and Tauseef Ahmad are members of the selection
committee.
Prof. Sirajul Islam Bokhari, Secretary of the Karachi City
Cricket Association, has asked all the seven zones to submit the
names of their players to the KCCA office.
