Under a gray and overcast sky the third Intercontinental Cup Match of the Americas got underway at the beautiful Sunnybrook Park in Toronto, Canada.
Bermuda won the toss and elected to field. A suprising decision considering their concerns about the pitch lasting three days and knowing they would have to bat last on it
This is the third game of the I-Cup series and like the previous two games the pitch got most of the pre game attention.

Desmond Chumney and skipper John Davison got off to fast start but with only seven overs completed what was a light drizzle became a steady rain and play was halted with the score at 40 without loss.
When play resumed 224 minutes later both Chumney and Davison lost their wickets to opening pacer Ryan Steede and the Canadian batsmen fought the rest of the day to defend against a very steady Bermudian attack. Saleem Mukudden led the bowlers with impressive figures of 15-9-17-3.

In the field the visitors showed a lot of energy and held six catches. Rain caused a brief interruption of 16 minutes later in the day's play which ended with 59 overs being bowled and Canada on 158 for 6 with A Bagai on 28* (off 104 balls) and Austin Codrington 13* (off 14 balls)
Weather forecast for the next two days calls for improving conditions with temperatures of 24 - 26 C and sunny skies. Bermuda must beat Canada to have a chance of advancing while the Canadians can advance if they obtain 17 points in a drawn game.
