Rameez Raja clarifies Pakistan cricket plans

Press Release: PCB on Junior tours, Rashid Latif etc.

Salient features of PCB Chief Executive Rameez Raja's press conference at the Gaddafi Stadium on Monday:
Junior Tours:
1-Pakistan Under-19 to Sri Lanka (a two-day tour opener, two three-dayers, three one-dayers) August 10-30.
2-Emerging Team Trophy (inter-Academies. Pakistan-India-Sri Lanka). Original dates: August 15-21. Revised to September 13-21.
3-`A' teams' triangular tournament in Pakistan (Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka) (Nov 1-9).
4-Under-17 tournament in India (Number of teams to be confirmed. Tentative month: December).
5-Under-19 tournament in Pakistan (teams to be confirmed. Tentative month: December/January).
6-England Under-19 in Pakistan (proposed dates Jan 9-Feb 7. Two four-dayers, five one-dayers).
7-ICC Under-19 World Cup in Bangladesh (proposed dates Feb 8-March 8).
Rashid Latif:
"The PCB is right behind Rashid Latif about his meeting with ICC Anti-Corruption Unit. It is mentioned in his contract that he has to cooperate and support the ACU. We strongly feel that the players, when approached, should inform the ACU. We know that Rashid was the whistle-blower and has never kept quiet or minced words when it came to corruption in the sport. So on that part we are satisfied and have no problems because he has only aired his views without accusing any player or citing any specific match. But the other problem is that he has gone public. Now that is a clear violation of his contractual obligations. He wrote to us last week in which he has apologised and promised that he would never make public statements. But as the situation stands at present, we have written to the manager of the England-bound team to inquire if Rashid Latif had consulted him before making his views public. Rashid Latif is and will remain Pakistan captain and there is no change in his status."
National Cricket Academy (NCA):
Aaqib Javed has been appointed fast bowling coach. Australian Daryl Foster was approached to be the head coach of the NCA. Although he has declined because of his pressing commitments, he has agreed to spend 15-day stints with NCA. Foster is a reputed and highly respected individual who has run the MRF Academy in India as well as ACA in Australia. So his experience and expertise are invaluable.
The National Selection Committee will be asked later this week to submit a pool of 30-35 players who will comprise the first batch of the NCA. It is hoped that the NCA would be launched in the third week of July.
All the junior/senior teams, prior to any international commitments, will spend 10 days at the NCA. The idea is to have short and intense sessions for them.
Regional coaches for Under-19:
Shahid Aslam (Lahore), Ali Zia (Multan), Raj Hans (Quetta), Azeem Hafeez (Hyderabad), Jalaluddin (Karachi), Mohsin Kamal (Sialkot), Taimur Azam (Peshawar) and Mansoor Rana (Faisalabad)
Domestic Cricket Management Committee:
The PCB has constituted a Domestic Cricket Management Committee that will monitor the regional first-class cricket. The committee is: Iqbal Qasim (chairman), Sultan Rana (member), Saqib Irfan (secretary), Samiul Hasan and Agha Zahid (co-opted members). In addition to this, the board also formed a Regional Monitoring Committee that include Maazullah Khan (Peshawar), Ashraf Qureshi (Rawalpindi), Arshad Pervaiz (Faisalabad), Sarmad Rafi Bhatti (Sialkot), Ishaq Patel (Karachi), Abdul Wahid Rashid (Hyderabad), Humayun Muzammil (Multan), Intikhab Ahmad (Lahore), Mansoor Ahmad Khan (Quetta).
New Zealand in Pakistan:
The PCB has proposed the venues to New Zealand Cricket for the five-match one-day international series in November. The venues for the matches are: Lahore (two matches), Rawalpindi (two matches) and Faisalabad (one match). Dates have not been finalized. The NZC had requested that its matches should not be slated at Karachi because of the bomb blast outside their team hotel in May last year.
