Rashid Latif today called on Pakistan supporters to behave themselves during the NatWest Challenge against England, starting at Old Trafford on Tuesday.
Crowd trouble marred the NatWest Series with England and Australia two
years ago, and fears of a repeat were heightened yesterday when hundreds of
fans jumped the fences and dodged stewards to reach the square following Pakistan's five-wicket win over Leicestershire at Grace Road.
Latif said: "This is very bad for cricket, I think, especially in Pakistan and England with the Pakistani crowd. They love us and follow Pakistan cricket all over the world, but it is not good for the cricket and I do not support that kind of thing."
"I respect the crowd and not all the crowd were bad, but a few guys got on
the pitch and this is no good for the safety of the players and it effects the
cricket."
"The situation in Pakistan is bad all the time, but now the whole world will
be watching the television and it would not be good to happen here."
