Young West Indian cricketers Reagan McLean and Amwar Prince are both included in the Somerset Second Eleven line up for tomorrow's friendly at the Hampshire Rosebowl after making quite an impression in Sunday's friendly match against Devon at Exmouth.
Nixon's brother Reagan McLean is a right arm seamer and has played for the Windward Islands at both Under 15 and Under 19 level, whilst twenty one year old Amwar Prince is an Antiguan policeman who is over in England for six months working at the County Ground in Taunton as a steward and playing cricket for Seaton C.C., Peter Anderson's home side.
In the match down by the seaside, Somerset batted first and scored 217 for 4 in their 50 overs, with Matt Wood who has now fully recovered from his virus making 61, Arul Suppiah 60, Piran Holloway who opened the innings and saw off the new ball 24, and Amwar Prince an unbeaten 21.
In reply Devon were dismissed for 147, with almost seven overs to spare, with Mike Parsons taking 2 for 27, McLean 2 for 47, and Wes Durston polishing off the tail with 4 for 35.
Also making the journey to the Hampshire Rosebowl earlier this afternoon was the young all rounder Gareth Andrew yesterday made a name for himself on his debut for Somerset Sabres against Durham Dynamos.
Nineteen year old Gareth is no stranger to County Ground regulars, having graduated through the Somerset Academy, and made appearances for Somerset Seconds and the Somerset Cricket Board XI, as well as playing against Glamorgan in one of the pre season warm up matches.
