Daily News - Tuesday 14th September, 1993 Lanka to play in Sharjah By Dinesh Weerawansa Sri Lanka has been invited by the Cricketers Benefit Fund Series (CBFS) to take part in a three-nation Sharjah Champions Trophy'93 tournament from October 28 to November 5 in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. Sri Lanka will meet West Indies in the first game of the triangular limited over contest on October 28. World champions Pakistan is the third country which has confirmed their participation. The CBFS is talking to the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) to get an additional fourth team to have all three Asian Test playing countries along with the West Indies. The final of the Sharjah Cup Championship will be played on November 5. Sri Lanka will have a tight one day schedule before the three-match home series against the West Indies later this year. Two days after the Sharjah Cup final they will meet the hosts India at Kanpur in the first match of the six-nation limited over tournament held to mark the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of the Bengal Cricket association. The three teams taking part in Sharjah, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and West Indies, along with India, South Africa and Zimbabwe will play in the three-week one-day tournament in India.
