Jacques Kallis is clearly enjoying his role as stand-in captain in Cape Town

Jacques Kallis rose to the occasion on Friday as he hit an unbeaten century to take South Africa into a strong position at the end of day two of the third and final Test. The series may be over as a contest, but South Africa want the win to boost morale and they are now odds-on with bet365 to go on to do just that.
The home side are now in a commanding position and with seven wickets in hand, have plenty of batting to come as they look to get up somewhere around 600. That would give them a lead of almost 400 and pile the pressure on Australia to bat for at least two days.
Bet365 make South Africa 1/4 to win this match, while the Aussies are 28/1 and the draw is 10/3.
Kallis, revelling in his role as stand-in captain, it seems, is 5/6 to go from 102 not out to make 140 or more, while AB De Villiers, unbeaten on 39, is the same price to get to 76 or better. De Villiers is also 7/4 to make a century.
Australia's focus, understandably, appears to be less than 100 percent, and this match is now South Africa's to win, it's just up to them.
Original preview
The Aussies are a ruthless bunch, of course, so it won't take much to convince them to go all out for the win, especially after they were turned over when the two sides met at home before Christmas.
Bet365 are being a little cagey - after all, Australia do not actually need the win to take the series - by making the Aussies 15/8 to win the match, compared to the 9/4 for South Africa, and the draw is 7/5 favourite.
South Africa have won their last three Test matches in Cape Town, but they have lost both their last two matches against Australia there, so any advantage is outweighed.
This match is all about motivation. The Aussies want the whitewash and the South Africans desperately want to avoid going down 3-0. The draw is the obvious outcome but Australia so rarely do draws that it is highly unlikely.
The home side are without captain Graeme Smith, of course, which is a shame, but they are still capable of competing.
If they are to win it, they will need their big guns to fire for the first time in the series and that means Jacques Kallis imposing himself on the match. Kallis is 10/3 favourite to be top runscorer in the first innings, while Hashim Amla is 4/1 and both JP Duminy and AB De Villiers are 9/2, ahead of Ashwell Prince at 11/2.
For Australia, captain Ricky Ponting is 10/3 favourite, while Simon Katich, Michael Hussey, Michael Clarke, and Phil Hughes are all 9/2. Marcus North, one of the finds of the series, is 7/1.
Albie Morkel looks set to come in for his brother Morne for the South Africans, Ashwell Prince and Imraan Khan will open the batting.
Spinner Bryce McGain seems set to play for Australia and I just think that the tourists have the momentum to complete the whitewash, especially if they start well, because South Africa may then fold.
