Sri Lanka Cricket President attends ICC Executive Board Meeting

The next Executive Board Meeting of the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the ICC Development International (IDI) Board Meeting will be held on the 29th and the 30th of October 2003 respectively, in Babados, West Indies.

Mr. Thilanga Sumathipala, President of Sri Lanka Cricket will be attending both these meetings representing Sri Lanka. Many key decisions are expected to be made during these assemblies pertaining to the global development of cricket which will have a direct impact on Sri Lanka Cricket. This meetings will be very important to Sri Lanka as it follows the visit of the ICC President Mr. Ehsan Mani and CEO Malcolm Speed to Sri Lanka in September this year.

Mr. Sumathipala proposes to address the need for tours to Sri Lanka beyond 2004 and also the funding and the availability of expertise for cricket development activities in the island in relation to the implementation of the 5 year plan that Sri Lanka Cricket has put in place. Mr. Sumapthipala is confident that the outcome of these meetings will be highly beneficial to the future of cricket in Sri Lanka.
