English county champions Leicestershire recorded their first win of their tour of Sri Lanka when they pulled off an exciting three-wicket win over Sri Lanka 'B' in the Cricket Board's one-day triangular match played at Galle Stadium on Wednesday.

Sri Lanka 'B' were dismissed for 158 in the 44th over, and Leicestershire knocked off the target in the same number of overs.

Leicestershire 159 for 7 in 43.3 overs (J. Dakin 32, A. Habib 37, B. Smith 14, D. Stevan 29, C. Crowe 13 n.o., Extras 22, Ruchira Perera 2 for 11).

The matches of the Premier championship cricket tournament which was to resume on March 29 (Monday) has been postponed to April 23, 24, 25 due to the unavailability of umpires to officiate the matches.

The tournament was initially postponed to accommodate the current one-day triangular conducted by the Cricket Board involving Sri Lanka 'A' and 'B' sides and the touring English county champions Leicestershire.

The Premier championship will resume on either April 2 or 3, according to tournament committee chairman Carlton Bernadus.

St. Peter's College were declared Group 'A' champions of the Elephant Lemonade Cup inter school cricket tournament concluded recently.

The Peterites in fact retained the title with a total of seven victories and they had an excellent average of 7.831 points. Their traditional rivals St. Joseph's College who also recorded five wins in the tournament emerged runners up with an average of 6.665 points.

Meanwhile Mahinda College Galle took the Group 'B' title with an average of 10.901 points. The Mahindians registered three victories in the tournament while St. Anne's College Kurunegala who had two wins to their credit emerged runners up with an average of 10.433 points.

The Group 'C' title went to Asoka MV who finished with a fine average of 13.545 points while the runners up Aluthgama MV had an average of 11.730 points.

The first round matches of the knock out tournament will commence on March 25 while the pre quarterfinals will be worked off on March 28. However quarterfinals which were scheduled for March 31st have been postponed due to the school vacations. These matches will now be worked off in end of April and the dates and the venues will be announced later.
