The official teams photograph of all 14 nations participating in the ICC Cricket World Cup was taken today aboard the SA naval vessel SAS Outeniqua in Cape Town harbour.
A special prefabricated grandstand to accommodate the 210 players taking part in cricket's premier global tournament was erected on the aft deck of the 21,000 ton combat support vessel.
The teams, dressed in the brightly coloured playing kit, cheerfully rubbed shoulders with each other, as a strong south-easterly wind whipped through the harbour.
The official photograph was taken by photographers from the Getty and Touchline Photo agencies who were positioned in high scaffolding erected on the quayside.
The SAS Outeniqua was originally built as an Arctic supply vessel. During its 10 years as a naval vessel it has played its role in international relief operations, including delivering a complete mobile hospital to Trieste in Italy for the victims of the war in Bosnia 10 years ago.
