David Graveney replaces Brian Bolus as Eng selector.
Salim Malik is planning to sue the Australian Paper and
the players who accused him of bribery. He says that
he is innocent.
Majid Khan is likely to take over as the administrative
manager of Pakistan team.
09 Mar A new player, K.Walmsley has been selected in the NZ
squad to play SL.
Salim Malik considers retiring from cricket rather than
awaiting punishment.
10 Mar Imran Khan says that cheats should be permanently
banned from the game of cricket. He denied that he
never said they sjould be hanged but only that they
should be banned.
12 Mar Damien Fleming is out of the WI tour with a shoulder
injury. Brendan Julian to replace him.
13 Mar West Indies Captain Richie Richardson will not play in
the remaining 4 ODIs against Australia because of injury.
Walsh will captain West Indies.
14 Mar Heath Streak has been signed as Hants' overseas player
for 1995. He replaces Winston Benjamin who is expected
to tour with the WI side.
15 Mar New Zealand fast bowler Danny Morrison is out of the 2nd
test against Sri Lanka. He was injured during the first
test.
17 Mar The injuries to West Indian players Ambrose, W.Benjamin,
Lara and Adams are not serious, according to the team
manager Andy Roberts.
Craig White of Yorkshire has not yet fully recovered
from the injury he suffered during the Australia tour.
He hopes to be fully fit soon.
Salim Malik won a stay of execution as Pakistan ad-hoc
committee reopened investigations into allegations of
bribery made against him.
20 Mar The ban on Salim Malik has been lifted.
Arthurton has been dropped from the West Indies squad
of 13 for the first test against Australia.
21 Mar McDermott has twisted his ankle while jogging and will
miss the first 2 tests against West Indies. He may not
be fit for the rest of the tour too.
TCCB has agreed to the demand of the players to increase
minimum salary of the capped county players from next
year.
Pakistan has requested the ICC to make the Australian
cricketers (who accused Malik) available for crossexamination.
PCB (previously known as BCCP) has said that though the
ban on Slaim Malik has been lifted, he will not be
considered for the team.
22 Mar Waqar Younis will miss the Asia Cup. His back problem
is diagnosed as fracture and he will not play for the
next 6 months.
Indian team for the Asia Cup has been announced. Utpal
Chatterjee replaces Raju in the squad.
28 Mar Carl Rackemann (member of the shield winning Queensland
team) flies to West Indies to join the Aus team to
replace the injured McDermott.
29 Mar Wicket Keeper Moin Khan of Pakistan is the new captain
to lead the team in the Asia Cup in Sharjah. Saeed
Anwar is his deputy.
Salim Malik, his brother-in-law Ijaz Ahmed, Akram Raza
and Kabir Khan have been dropped from the team.
All rounders Zafar Iqbal and Naeem Ashraf and middle order
bat Ijaz Ahmed jr (no relation to Ijaz Ahmed) are the
newcomers to the team.
Off spinner Arshad Khan, left-arm spinner Nadeem Khan
(brother of Moin Khan) and opening batsman Ghulam Ali
have been recalled.
Basit Ali and Rashid Latif were not considered.
Surrey still hopeful of Waqar playing for them. Waqar
will undergo check up in London to diagnose the problem.
30 Mar Tony Lock, the Surrey and England spinner passed away
in Perth at the age of 65. He was ailing from lung cancer.
He was a member of the Surrey team that won the County
Championship seven times in the 1950s. (Tests: 174 wkts
@ 25.58, BB 7-35)
Roshan Mahanama and Champaka Ramanayake have been recalled
to the Sri Lankan team for the Asia Cup.
Australian D.Whatmore has been appointed as the national
coach of Sri Lanka.
