01 Oct West Indies tour to India postponed by a week due to
the plague situation in India.
02 Oct Pakistan won the first test in a nail-biting finish by
1 wkt. Basit Ali to miss the rest of the season due to
groin injury. Aamir Malik has been recalled in his place.
McGrath to miss the second test due to thigh injury.
McDermott is fit to play.
04 Oct New Zealand team to India and South Africa announced.
No decision yet on whether NZ will tour India or not.
India has to come up with a new revised schedule.
05 Oct NZ will participate in the 3-Nation ODI tournament in
India. The schedule remains the same. Ajit Wadekar has
been asked to continue as the cricket manager for the
Indian team for the rest of the cricket season.
G.R.Viswanath continues as the chairman of selectors
for another year.
06 Oct Mohammed Azharuddin has been retained as the captain
of the Indian team for the forthcoming series with
West Indies and the triangular one-day tournament
involving NZ and WI.
07 Oct WI tour to India will take place. WI will arrive a
week later than initially scheduled. The 1st ODI in
Baroda is cancelled. The 2nd ODI in Jaipur will be
rescheduled and played at a later time. The triangular
ODI tournament will take place as scheduled.
09 Oct Umpires for the forthcoming West Indies tour to India
have been announced. Indian team for the first two
ODIs against the WI has been announced. India retains
the same team that went to Sri Lanka after dropping
P.Vaidya.
11 Oct Pak batsman Zahid Fazal has been dropped and replaced
by Atif Rauf for the 3 Nation ODI tournament starting
12 Oct.
12 Oct WI team reaches India. Lara and Hooper were fined for
not attending the team meeting held in London.
14 Oct Plans announced for U15 World Cup to be held in England
in 1996. Eight countries are expected to participate.
18 Oct Due to heavy weekend rain, the start of the second test
between Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe has been delayed by 2
days. The match will now start on 20th Oct 94.
19 Oct England touring party has arrived in Australia. Kapil Dev
has a hamstring injury and will be missing the second
one-dayer in Bombay on 20th against WI. No replacement
has been announced.
20 Oct Kapil Dev will be replaced by Chetan Sharma for the
3 Nation ODI tournament in India involving NZ and WI.
Tendulkar to come in at No. 5 in subsequent ODIs.
23 Oct Ian Healy broke a thumb in the 3-Nation match v Pakistan.
He is returning home. Emery (NSW) is flying out as a
replacement.
24 Oct Alec Stewart will miss the opening matches of the tour
after breaking his right index finger in practice.
Stewart's finger was broken whilst facing Craig White
in the nets. He hopes he will not be out of action for
more than about 10 days, in time for the four-day game
against South Australia (starts Nov 4).
25 Oct Shaun Udal is unlikely to play for 3 to 4 weeks after
breaking his left thumb in dropping a caught and
bowled chance in today's match against the ACB XI.
26 Oct The 16 member WI cricket team had a narrow escape from
disaster when the aircraft carrying them from Bangalore
to Goa went out of control. Match referee Raman Subba Row
and sports journalists were among the 240 passengers on
board.
27 Oct Brian Lara has been suspended for a match by ICC for
his act of dissension on the field when he was given
out stumped in the one dayer against NZ on 26 Oct 94.
30 Oct PM XI to play England on 9 Nov announced.
