Fri 01 GAme SL v PAk Bd XI ends in a draw.

Tue 05 England names its teams for the RSA tour, and the A squad. Both available in this directory. Symonds named in the A team.

Wed 06 Symonds father indicates coolness towards playing for England...

Fri 08 PAk v SL Test begins. Pak reach 3/235 in a light (and crowd) shortened day. Symonds delays decision about who to play for till Monday.

Sat 09 Pakistan reach 459/9 declared on day 2 of the test against SL.

Sun 10 Sri Lanka dismissed for 186 against Pakistan. Akram takes 5/55, as Pakistan dominate.

Mon 11 Pakistan wins the test by an innings. Symonds hits 54 off 24 balls and then declines his invitation to tour with England A. Says Illi "he won't be picked again."

Wed 13 Waqar says he won't play second test. Cites lack of form.

Fri 15 PAkistan v SL 2nd test commecnes. Pakistan again in the ascendant as they dismiss SL for ~200. Tillerkeratne scores over half the SL runs, with a brave century.

Sat 16 Pakistan go to first innings lead. Eventual lead is ~118 runs. Warwickshire wrap up consecutive County championships.

Sun 17 SL begin fightback, claw back the lead, and are 2/~170 at the close.

Mon 18 Kent win their firsrt trophy for many a year, by winning the B&H Cup. SL finish with over 400, with a good centuy by De Silva. Day ends with Pakistan needing ~250 with 8 wickets in hand.

Tue 19 SL wins their first test in Pakistan, by 42 runs. First Pakistan loss to a team other than WI in many years, IN Pakistan.

Fri 22 3rd SL v Pak test begins. SL score 232.

Sat 23 Pakistan reply with 214.

Sun 24 Sri Lanka, batting slowly, reach 4/177 by the close, putting them in a very strong position.

Sun 25 Sri Lanka declare at 9/338, leaving Pakistan 357 to win. Pakistan reduced to 5/15, before a slight rally by Moin and Basit leaves Pakistan at the precarious position of 6/99. Vaas finishes the day with 4/16.

Mon 26 Pakistan are alll out after lunch for 212. SL wins by 144 runs. Ranatunga is Man of the Match. Sl wins series 2-1. First series loss by Pakistan in Pakistan since early 80's. Second SL overseas series win.
