Marcus Trescothick is a worthy favourite at 3/1 (4.00) to be England's topscorer in the first innings, not least after his first innings century in Multan. Trescothick is probably the only England batsman who looks in decent form and he is fast becoming a real world-class opening batsman at Test level.
Andrew Strauss is 4/1 (5.00) while Kevin Pietersen and captain Vaughan are both 9/2 (5.50). Pietersen has shown nothing with the bat yet and looks out of touch while it is asking a lot for Vaughan to come in fresh and top score. He is, though, a great player, and will add steadiness to the middle order. Andrew Flintoff, who has threatened a big innings, is interesting at 11/2 (6.50), while Ian Bell, improving all the time is 6/1 (7.00).
Inzamam-ul-Haq is a 100/30 (4.33) favourite to be Pakistan's top scorer and the skipper looks to be in good touch. He, like the rest of the team, will be buoyant after their win in Multan, and he above most others has the patience and concentration to make a big score. Salman Butt, whose century in the second innings went a long way to helping his side to victory in Multan, is 4/1 (5.00), as is the talented Younis Khan, while Mohammad Yousuf is 9/2 (5.50) and Shoaib Malik is 11/2 (6.50).
If the first Test showed anything, it showed that Pakistan's spin attack is much more potent than England's. Ashley Giles and Shaun Udal both struggled, while Danish Kaneria was a real threat in the second innings. Kaneria is 7/1 (8.00) favourite to be Man of the Match, just ahead of Flintoff at 15/2 (8.50). And don't discount Vaughan coming to his side's rescue at 16/1 (17.00).
