U17 team to defend title

The Otago Under 17 Girls team to defend the South Island title won last year, has today been named.

The side includes eight players who were part of last season's victorious team (Scurr, Martin, Kane, Innes, Bates, Carstairs, McKenzie, Baird), but is missing key players Kirsten Spence, Megan Kane, and Katherine Lynch who are representing Otago at higher levels.

Captain Elizabeth Scurr is currently recovering from a hand fracture, but is expected to be fit. Barbara Chittock will replace Scurr should she not recover in time for the tournament.

The tournament will be held in Ashburton, 15-18 January.
