Jim Troughton struck 51 from 35 balls to lift Warwickshire to 169 for 9 against Glamorgan at Edgbaston - and they edged the victory by four runs. Sourav Ganguly was Glamorgan's best bowler, with 3 for 27 from his full complement. Robert Croft fell early for 7 and, although Matt Elliott and David Hemp each got into the forties, it wasn't enough. Neil Carter took 3 for 17 and Dougie Brown applied the squeeze with 3 for 21with Glamorgan, who needed 23 more from 21 balls with seven wickets standing, lost five wickets in two overs to fall four runs short.

Leicestershire made just 150 for 4 in their 20 overs - but it was more than enough as Nottinghamshire slumped to a 21-run defeat. Needing 7.5 an over, Notts' reply got off to a dreadful start as Ottis Gibson removed Graeme Swann (2) and Stephen Fleming (1) with just 6 on the board. Then Darren Maddy added pressure, taking 2 for 18 from three overs, while David Masters took 2 for 15 from his four overs. There was a warning to county officials as the croiwd - 6,073 - fell way short of expectations. But then again Nottinghamshire opted to stage four Twenty20 matches in eight days. Perhaps there is such a thing as too much of a good thing.

Durham's Dale Benkenstein took 3 for 10 from two overs to consign Yorkshire to a two-wicket defeat with one over to go at Headingley. Phil Jaques topscored for the home side with 40, but received precious little support as they inched to 123 for 7 from their 20 overs. This represented something of a recovery all the same: at one stage they were in real peril at 12 for 3. Durham made heavy weather of their reply - they were 31 for 4, and then 64 for 6 in the 11th over - but Phil Mustard and Gary Scott both hit 31 to take them home.
