West Indies v England 2003-04

You would have been labeled a madman if you'd prophesied that England would lead 2-0 at the halfway stage of proceedings in the Series

26-Mar-2004
You would have been labeled a madman if you'd prophesied that England would lead 2-0 at the halfway stage of proceedings in the Series. However, those brave and dogged souls who backed England have been proved right as Michael Vaughan's troops have taken the Caribbean by storm with stress-free victories in the opening Tests at Jamaica and Trinidad. Can the visitors maintain their dominance as the action heads to Barbados and the Kensington Oval for the 3rd Test on the 1st April?
The catalyst to victory on both occasions has been the immense performance by England's bowling attack and in particular, Steve Harmison, who has bagged 16 of the 40 Windies' wickets so far.
Men to Watch
Simon Jones; Steve Harmison can't be expected to do all the work, although he has been trying his very best. Can the speed demon from the valleys prove a perfect partner in crime for him? Betting high on their total wickets could be the right way to make a few quid...
Brian Lara; The calypso king's crown has slipped somewhat in averaging just 14.5 in four visits to the crease this Series. Can the skipper lead from the front and help to restore some Windies' pride? Or should you bet low on how many runs he scores, looking at this current form?
Wise Words
When asked about the Series, BetHiLo's Senior Cricket Trader said that "The first two tests were a story of England's bowlers dominating the matches, with the home batsmen struggling to cope with the pace and bounce generated, especially by Harmison. The local groundsmen now have a dilemma; do they produce `result' pitches to give the Windies a better chance of getting back into the series? Or do they come up with flatter surfaces to avoid the embarrassment of a whitewash? Their approach could be the key to determining how events unfold in Barbados and Antigua". He also felt obliged to mention that "we will be betting both remaining LIVE Test matches In-Running, with markets on the match winner, batsman's runs and total team runs amongst others.... We will also update our series prices after the Barbados Test has been decided".
