At St Vincent, May 18, 2005. Pakistan won by 59 runs. Toss: West Indies.
A modest target of 193 proved too much for a West Indies team without Lara - who was rested
for all three one-dayers - as they struggled to cope with Pakistan's experienced seamers on a
helpful surface. Abdul Razzaq did most of the damage in claiming four for 29, while Naved-ul-
Hasan started the slide to 133 all out by having both openers caught off top-edged hooks. Not
for the first time, the West Indies top order failed to adapt, opting to try to hit themselves out of
trouble against opponents ideally equipped to cope with such tactics. Pakistan had earlier seemed
set for a total in excess of 250, but fell away after Yousuf Youhana was smartly run out by Browne,
and Inzamam-ul-Haq fell to Gayle. In any case, strokeplay was always difficult on a turgid pitch.
Man of the Match: Abdul Razzaq.
