West Indies v Zimbabwe, 2012-13

Wisden's review of the first ODI between West Indies and Zimbabwe, 2012-13

15-Apr-2014
At St George's, Grenada, February 22, 2013. First one-day international: West Indies won by 156 runs. West Indies 337-4 (50 overs) (J. Charles 130, K. O. A. Powell 79, D. M. Bravo 100*); ‡Zimbabwe 181-9 (50 overs) (C. R. Ervine 41, M. N. Waller 51; S. P. Narine 3-28). MoM: J. Charles.
Twelve days earlier, Johnson Charles had hit his maiden century in senior cricket, in a one-day international against Australia at Melbourne. Now he added another, and his partnerships of 168 with Kieran Powell and 80 with Darren Bravo set up a commanding total. Bravo's own hundred, his first in the format, was completed off the last ball of the innings, his 71st. Zimbabwe lost four early wickets - two to Sunil Narine, including Masakadza to Kemar Roach's flying catch at long-on - and never recovered. Grenada's first international match for nearly four years came three days after the New National Party's return to office with a sweep of all 15 seats in parliamentary elections - cause for a public holiday and a celebratory post-match rally at the stadium.
