Western Province announce changes.

8TH MAY 2000 MEDIA RELEASE

After the dismal 1999/2000 season experienced by the MTN Western Province team, the Board of Directors OF Western Province (Pty) Ltd appointed a Task Team consisting of Prof. Jakes Gerwel, Martin Brand and CEO Arthur Turner to investigate the problems surrounding the team.

The Task Team spent in excess of sixty hours interviewing twenty-two players, the selection panel and the Western Province A and B Coaches. Only two players have not been interviewed namely Gary Kirsten and Jacques Kallis due to availability. However, these two players will be interviewed in the near future.

Cricket Manager (Convenor), A Team Coach, W P Captain, B Team Coach (Advisory Capacity). One outside selector.

B Team:

Cricket Manager (Convenor) Three selectors nominated by Clubs, B Team Coach, A Team Coach (Advisory Capacity).

Peter Kirsten will also assist with the technical aspects of the Province's batsmen.

Bobby Simpson will be contracted for a period of one month during the summer to organise workshops with all Western Province representative coaching and club coaches.

The CEO will act as Cricket Manager until this position is filled.
