Prime Minister's XI v New Zealanders

Wisden's review of the tour match, Prime Minister's XI v New Zealanders

15-Apr-2016
At Canberra, October 23, 2015 (day/night). New Zealanders won by 102 runs. ‡New Zealanders 307-8 (50 overs) (M. J. Guptill 94, T. W. M. Latham 131; J. P. Behrendorff 3-56); Prime Minister's XI 205 (45.2 overs) (A. C. Voges 55, R. G. L. Carters 74; T. A. Boult 3-27, J. D. S. Neesham 3-23).
Martin Guptill and Tom Latham opened with a stand of 196 in 33.5 overs and, although they then lost 3-3, the New Zealanders went on to pass 300. The PM's XI struggled to 13-3 against the pink ball and, after Jimmy Neesham removed the Hussey brothers - Mike (captain for the day) and David - it was left to Adam Voges and wicketkeeper Ryan Carters to save embarrassment. Voges added to criticism of the pink-ball experiment: "The one that got hit on to the roof [by Guptill] and didn't come back was 28 overs old and it looked like it was 68. To be honest, it didn't hold up very well at all tonight…There were bits of pink left, but it was more green than pink by the end."
