Big points were made on Day 14 of the IPL, but as far as the standings go, it's still Ian Chappell who is firmly entrenched at No.1, leading Sambit Bal by 197 points.
The first game between the Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians didn't fetch our league participants many points. The common picks - Sachin Tendulkar, Sanath Jayasuriya and Abhishek Nayar - had a low-key day, and the only player to perform - JP Duminy - didn't feature in any of the teams. The only team to have players from Kolkata was David Lloyd's - but Ishant Sharma and Murali Kartik managed to account for only 55 points between them.
But all the action (and points) came from the Kings XI Punjab-Royal Challengers Bangalore game. A fifty, a hat-trick and a Man of the Match for Yuvraj Singh, who happened to be the trump in all four Star Wars teams. Yuvraj brought in a whopping 466 points, one of the biggest hauls by a trump so far. David also managed to sneak in 107 more points from that game, courtesy Irfan Pathan.
No one from the Bangalore side featured in any of the teams. But with two wins on the trot, will this prompt a rethink? We'll know in the coming days.
