Chedean Nation

A hard-hitting middle-order batter who can bowl seam, Chedean Nation was part of the squad that marked West Indies' return to international cricket after a three-year hiatus in 2008, a tour where she captained them in three ODIs against Netherlands. Her first performance of note was with the ball a year after her debut, picking up 3 for 22 in West Indies' surprise win over England in an ODI. However, she was dropped from both the white-ball formats late in 2009 after a string of low performances.

Nation marked her comeback to the national side in 2016 and has been a regular since. She was West Indies' third-highest run-scorer - behind Deandra Dottin and Stafanie Taylor- at the Women's ODI World Cup 2017. In 2019, she scored two fifties in T20Is and was West Indies' leading run-scorer in the format that year. Despite bowling regularly in domestic cricket - she was joint-second wicket-taker for Jamaica at the T20 Blaze in 2023-24 - Nation's bowling has not been used much in international cricket. She was second in the list of leading run-scorers in the Women's Super50 Cup 2023-24, a competition her team Jamaica won. She was also part of West Indies' T20 World Cup campaigns in 2018, 2020 and 2023, where she was ruled out midway due to injury.
