4.2 to SP Fleming, straight, slightly short and perhaps keeps a tad low, traps Fleming on the back foot and not a doubt that was going on to hit the middle stump three-quarters of the way up. Fleming almost walked!. 14/1
9.2 | 1 | 22 | 2 | 2.35 | 45 | 2 | 0 | 3 | 0 | |
16.3 to HJH Marshall, gone! Not the best ball - short and wide but that's struck right at the man at backward point who snaps it up at chest height. 56/3 49.2 to JS Patel, chipped to point, a soft dismissal in the end, but Patel did a decent job with Vettori and their team-mates will thank them for it.. 165/10
8 | 0 | 34 | 1 | 4.25 | 34 | 5 | 0 | 1 | 1 | |
11.6 to L Vincent, a horrible shot from Vincent, trying to push things on. He didn't pick the ball up at all and heaved across the line; the ball kept low and cleaned him up a treat. 37/2
10 | 0 | 26 | 2 | 2.60 | 39 | 1 | 0 | 1 | 0 | |
20.3 to SB Styris, wide, short, Styris slashed and got a thin but very audible edge and Sangakkara's banshee-like appeal echoed all round the empty stadium.. 66/4 38.4 to SE Bond, horrible low delivery matched in its ugliness by the lack of footwork and lame swish at the ball and a thick and loud under-edge is snapped up by the keeper. Sangakkara lets out a screaming appeal behind the stumps - it's so obvious that Jayasuriya doesn't even shout - and the umpire takes his time to give it, probably surprised at being asked. The batsman, for his part, just walks off. There was no real doubt. 118/9
10 | 1 | 23 | 4 | 2.30 | 43 | 1 | 0 | 1 | 0 | |
25.4 to JDP Oram, Oram walks across his stumps again to counter the spin and looks rather silly as the ball stays straight and bowls him round his legs. The previous ball was a warning, but he ignored it and paid. He actually missed that by about a foot and it hit middle.. 82/5 29.1 to NJ Astle, Slog-sweep from well outside off stump, possibly off the bottom of the bat, and the ball arcs to Malinga who runs in about 10 yards from deep midwicket to take a routine catch. Astle has rarely looked in form and with wickets tumbling at the other end, has not had the luxury of having the time to do so. 87/6 33.3 to BB McCullum, what a terrible shot from McCullum, attempting a reverse sweep which crashes off the bat onto his pad and pops up to Jayawardene at slip. The Sri Lankans cry loudly but there's a short delay until the umpire finally nods his head. New Zealand's chances of batting out the full 50 overs are fast receding here. 101/7 37.4 to KD Mills, a big scream and that's plumb, and Murali's fourth. The batsman took the smallest of steps forward to play that one on the front but he's trapped by the ball which pitches on off and would have gone on to hit middle-and-leg. 115/8

6.1 to ST Jayasuriya, oh that's a cracker, and it's out! Swinging into Jayasuriya who pushes forward unconvincingly and it's taken by the wicketkeeper. He trudges off, clearly not content with the decision...and replays do suggest he's perhaps a bit unlucky there. 45/1

26.2 to DPMD Jayawardene, and that's a soft dismissal for Jayawardene who comes down the pitch and hits it straight down long-on's throat. Not literally of course - it landed in his hands. Fine innings from the captain. 134/2 26.5 to WU Tharanga, well bowled! Lovely bit of bowling giving it plenty of flight, dragging the batsman down the pitch, the ball spitting away from him and McCullum whips off the bails with ease. Super ball, that. Super innings too.. 135/3
