Law set a cracking pace to bring up his hundred off 69 balls with 14 fours, finishing unbeaten on 113 made from 85 balls. Law jointly held the previous record of a hundred off 74 balls with Brad Haddin and Justin Langer. Law also broke the record for the fastest fifty in the ING Cup, his half-century taking 26 balls.
It was Michael Kasprowicz with 4 for 19 from 10 overs who ripped through Tasmania's top-order, and they never recovered. Kasprowicz took 3 for 9 in his opening six-over burst, dismissing Michael Dighton, Dan Marsh and Shane Watson to leave Tasmania teetering on 4 for 33.
A fifth-wicket stand of 94 betwwen Michael Di Venuto (54) and Shannon Tubb (79) hauled Tasmania back from the brink, but their total of 209 was never going to be enough on a fast-scoring ground.
