IPL champions Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals will kick off the Champions League 2013 in Jaipur on September 21. They will be joined by Lions, winners of South Africa's T20 competition, and Australia's Perth Scorchers to make up Group A. Group B includes former winners Chennai Super Kings, Big Bash League champions Brisbane Heat, South Africa's Titans and Trinidad & Tobago, who have qualified directly into the tournament for the first time.

Otago Volts, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Faisalabad Wolves and the winner of Sri Lanka's domestic T20 tournament, which is yet to take place, will play the Qualifiers beginning on September 17 in Hyderabad. The two top-ranked sides will progress to take the one spot remaining in each group.

The group stage will have each team facing the other once to decide the seeding in the semi-finals. The table toppers from Group A will meet the team ranked second from Group B, while the winners of Group B will take on the second-placed team from Group A in Jaipur and Delhi respectively. Delhi will also host the final on October 6.

Ranchi and Ahmedabad join Jaipur in hosting Champions League matches for the first time this year.

@Suresh Madasu: Do you really think, SRH has potentials to win the tournament then you are wrong my friend. Look at their performances in IPL, they were depend on their bowling. Luckily, they had Dale Steyn, otherwise they would not be able to win number of matches which they actually won. Look at their runs, hardly they crossed 130 runs in couple of matches. So don't make any assumptions. Cheersssss

As usual team from Aus will win this time, CSK is the team to watch but this short form game doesnt suits them, And for royals this is the first CL series hope they and SRH will join in same group along with MI

I'm still against there being potentially 4 IPL teams in the CLT20. If you want to watch that many IPL teams, WATCH THE IPL! That spot should be for an Associate team to take part.

They have the best record in IPL..entering into the finals 5 out of 6 is a massive acheivement. at the same time their record in CLT20 is not that good..the former champions looks little bit struggling in recent editiion of tournament..Hope the guys turn up their best in the field..CSK Rocks. #whislepodu...expecting yet another CSK vs MI..and CSK win...

Mr.Suresh Madasu : Just a small correction mate.. If you look at the track, it was the same.. CSK had two set left handers facing the heart of SRH's bowling, the two leggies and just blasted them out.. It is not the flat track as you suggest.. Just look at the score of SRH..

@class9ryan Mumbai has never hosted a CLT20 match. It was Surely we cannot schedule a series in Mid Sept in Mumbai.

We ve had flop season when Chennai, Mumbai and Bangalore were the hosts of CLT20. Even the inaugural match didnt have enough people. So its better to shift it to newer venues. Clearly its CSK who start as favourites but Titans could be the team that surprises us all.

still can't understand why few teams need qualifier and few not....??? There should be a wild card entry each year. Good Luck Wolves.

There are no matches scheduled in Mumbai in September because of rains. Also there is an issue with a Pakistani team playing in Mumbai. If this tournament was held in the second half of October then Mumbai could have been considered as a venue. As regards Chennai there are legal issues with stands G,H,I of the Chepauk stadium. Also there is an issue with a Sri Lankan team playing in Chennai. Hence Mumbai and Chennai have not been considered as venues for this tournament.

Instead of Ranchi and Ahmedabad, there should be matches in Mumbai and Chennai too. Otherwise even Hyderabad and Rajasthan should not have home advantage.
