Transport to the Nevill Ground

09-Jan-2006
TRAINS to Tunbridge Wells can usually be joined at Charing Cross or London Bridge, although this is not always the case. The former is advisable currently due to the extensive building work at the latter due to the extension of the London Underground. Rail travel information is available from Tonbridge (01732 770111) It is strongly advised that the availability of trains is confirmed, especially at weekends. The ground is beyond walking distance for all but the most determined. A taxi or bus is advisable. The taxi rank is directly outside the station doors; most buses in Tunbridge Wells stop in the vicinity of the station.
MOTORISTS from outside the county should travel via the M25 and/or A21 to Tunbridge Wells. It is easier if one remains on the A21 past the first turning for Tunbridge Wells and Southborough, leaving the road instead at the Tunbridge Wells and Pembury exit a few miles further on. Then, head towards Tunbridge Wells along Pembury Road. The road will, after about 3 miles, descend towards a set of traffic lights. Turn left at these and head towards Hawkenbury. On Kent first XI match days, a park and ride bus service is employed to ease congestion in the village and this will be signposted as appropriate. Buses shuttle to and from the ground frequently and the score is displayed in the car park for latecomers.
(price: 1 pound per person, single or return, as of 1996). Those actually heading for the ground itself should continue on towards Hawkenbury and turn right into Warwick Park, shortly after passing the closest pub to the ground, the Spread Eagle.
Those motorists using the Dartford Tunnel please note the toll is now 1 pound.
