Bus Driver is a total body exercise and one of my favourites. If we think about the movements of a cricketer on the field we will recognise leg movements of squatting, pushing off for a quick run or in the field and using our upper body/shoulders to replace the ball from hand to target. The bus driver exercise incorporates a lot of those movements and is therefore a great exercise to develop and maintain functional strength. There are many variations of the bus driver exercise, the one we just demonstrated are one that we use quite a lot as it is an effective total body exercise with a number of larger muscle groups that must work together to create the movement. One can also easily bring an explosive component into it with a powerful leg thrust to execute the movement.
Gillette Fitness Zone video series presented by Adrian Le Roux will explore fitness exercises to enhance the performance of the modern day cricket player. The 25-episode series will focus on the functional exercises that can be done anyplace anywhere; and then move on to functional and core stability exercises that involve lot of movement and power.
