India will win and then get hammered in AUS... India needs solid openers quickly.. Vijay did well in England, but last 2 matches, he couldnt do anything. GG and Dhawan were just plain poor to watch. If the openers can see of 15-20 overs, it gives pujara/Kohli to build and feel less pressure. I am not sure who in the domestic circuit is a good opener, but bringing back GG/ Jaffer/ Sewagh would be plain stupid. Vijay still needs to figure out his technique a little bit. Rohit Sharma doesn't belong in the side. Dhoni can still be the wk captain but I think he should retire from Tests, and focus on ODI/t20s. Bring in samson at #6, I think he is capable. My XI. 1. Vijay 2.??? 3. Pujara 4. Virat 5. Rahane 6. Samson 7. Ashwin 8. P. Ojha 9. Bhuvi 10. Aaron 11. Umesh/Ishant... idk why P.Ojha has been left out, he is a good spinner, there is no one else in Indian circuit to take up that mantle, and Ashwin needs to be the all rounder. Lets hope board has some ideas! This was just plain embrassing

Weren't WI only in India last year for a Test series? It seems like WI Tests in India have become an annual event.

  • on August 17, 2014, 16:48 GMT

I hope we give a better showing this time around. If I have to pick a squad for the first test it would be: Gayle, Powell, DM Bravo,Blackwood, Chanderpaul, Samuels, Ramdin (capt), Jerome Taylor, Narine, Holder, Roach. Pooran should also tour to gain some kind of test experience, while we can have Rampaul, Benn, Brathwaite and Edwards as reserves.

  • satspeare on August 17, 2014, 1:02 GMT

WI team for the test matches 1 KC Brathwaite, 2 KOA Powell 3 Darren Bravo / MN Samuels 4 C Gayle 5 S Chanderpaul 6 J Blackwood / K Edwards 7 D Ramdin (captain) 8 JE Taylor 9 JO Holder / R Rampaul 10 SP Narine 11 KAJ Roach with SJ Benn and DM Bravo making up the squad. Samuels, Edwards, Rampaul, Benn and DM Bravo will miss out in the first game. WI really need a few BATSMEN who could bowl a little, desperately need to groom a young keeper who could bat ( Pooran maybe) I will love to see Gayle play some test matches batting in the middle order. Imagine the pressure on the bowling if Chris and Shiv are together in the middle order! Good luck WI - I think we will do much better than the our last visit

Need to get top order batting averages up again....

  • on August 15, 2014, 12:13 GMT

Another series to get back Kohli and Pujaras to get back on track.. I would change the whole team and give it a fresh look by selecting new openers.may be selecting top scorers a criteria ..

  • on August 15, 2014, 10:06 GMT

this time it will not be easy for india .bcoz windies have roach, taylor, holder for pace and narine, benn, shill for spin and also good batting resorces.but wi should try dwayne bravo in tests as alrounder and ramdin is in good form and palying responsibly

India is never a foreign pitch to any country. thanks bcci thanks ipl so much so that it has always been a close affair for many years now and India have never won comfortably.

  • electric_loco_WAP4 on August 15, 2014, 8:27 GMT

Good job BCCI! Chance to get a few cheap W vs hopeless WI,no.8 team before they are off to Aus.And then the inevitable happens. Its going to be much more than what we are seeing in Eng now.For sure! :)

hope Windies can give some fight in India.Just for thought Captain Ramdin should just shout bowl him Moeen when Narine is bowling to the Indian top batsmen hmmm

  • on August 14, 2014, 18:21 GMT

Shikhar and Rohit will score runs, under Dhoni India will win 3-0 and Jadeja will prove his mettle as an all-rounder and what will happen next in Australia? we all know.

  • on August 14, 2014, 18:09 GMT

WI are strong this time n last years experience will benefit them....

  • on August 14, 2014, 18:01 GMT

I see every nation trying to build a team besides WI...same old Gayle, Chanders. No disrespect to them, but we still lose. Give young and upcom players a chance...who knows, they may surprise everyone. Time to play Narine, Pollard in test.Shilling? waste of time..Dwayne Bravo..on form, maybe..otherwise..No!!..Jason Holder..yes. Also, we need pace...not medium...for India, but they must be accurate/discipline.

  • on August 14, 2014, 17:03 GMT

Ashwin s chance to retain his top allrounder rankings...

  • ladycricfan on August 14, 2014, 16:56 GMT

Windies series is the good time to have a new test captain. First choice Ashwin, second choice Pujara.

  • on August 14, 2014, 15:55 GMT

this series is a waste of time Same thing happened in 201,20131..we beat them and went on to lose overseas series badly.....SIMPLY TIME OF WASTE

  • Sachit1979 on August 14, 2014, 15:41 GMT

I think it would tougher than Tendulkar's farewell series if Windies travels in its full strength including Taylor, Roach, Rampaul in pace attack, Benn and Narine in spin department and last but not least Darren Bravo, Chanderpaul, Gayle and prolific youngsterJermaine Blackwood in batting order.

  • jimwhatever on August 14, 2014, 14:57 GMT

this is a redemption series. that is to redeem the honor after this disastrous ENGLAND TOUR. home grounds, weak opposition everything favorable for INDIA. a request to all- when INDIAN team starts to win 1 or 2 games agnst WI dont start to praise their talent.

  • BRUTALANALYST on August 14, 2014, 14:54 GMT

For sure Dhabih also time for Holder to replace Sammy in all 3 formats the guy has so much potential.

  • on August 14, 2014, 14:38 GMT

the punching bags are back! now rohit sharma can score some big hundreds to get his place back in the XI... same applies to dhawan! but on a more serious note the windies must embarrass the BCCI by winning this series... Gayle/Powell/Darren bravo/chanderpaul/samuels/kirk Edwards/ramdin/roach/rampaul/narine/Jerome Taylor or shillingford ... please don't send trundlers like best; Sheldon cottrell and shanon Gabriel etc!

  • on August 14, 2014, 14:14 GMT

Thanks god its not Sri Lanka again!

  • on August 14, 2014, 14:13 GMT

yaay.. kohli back in form. pujara two triple centuries. jaddu man of the series for his 30 wickets; dhoni - perfect captain, although non-conventional

  • on August 14, 2014, 14:13 GMT

BCCI obviously doing this to get its players back into form, like Shami and Rohit Sharma/Ashwin who steamrolled the last team with wonderful performances and burnt out after.

  • Rake1 on August 14, 2014, 14:07 GMT

India will probably beat West Indies in tests over 3 days and then go to Australia and lose in similar fashions with tests lasting 3-4 days. Complete waste of time this series, unless India uses series to try out a few youngsters like KL Rahul,Naman Ojha etc. Lots of Indian batsmen like Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan are flat track bullies - look good at home & struggle when they travel to Eng, Aus & SA.

  • JoshFromJamRock on August 14, 2014, 14:04 GMT

I expect a very competitive series. The WI selectors have got together a very good Test team with a potent bowling unit with Roach, Taylor, Rampaul, Holder, Narine and Benn all fit, in-form and ready for selection. India should narrowly win the limited overs portion of the series but the Test Matches, especially after struggling against England, could go either way.

  • on August 14, 2014, 13:32 GMT

I hope the WI selectors select a proper team this time. Taylor, Roach and Narine MUST be in the test squad, all of whom were missing from the last test series.

  • Cricfever_PM on August 14, 2014, 13:03 GMT

I really don't understand why do we need three home serious against WI, We have played WI when ever before we go overseas and lost all the games, it happened against Eng in 2011 and Aus in 2011-12 and SA in 2013.

  • nathangonmad on August 14, 2014, 12:54 GMT

The west indies tour India more than anyone else it seems! 3 times in 3 years?
